Afsana Khanom, wife of pilot Abid Sultan who died in the US-Bangla aircraft crash in Kathmandu, suffered a brain stroke on Sunday morning.
Afsana was admitted to the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital where doctors conducted a surgery on her, said Dr Shiraji Shafiqul Islam, assistant professor of the institute.
She had multiple clotting in the right side of her brain, and as a result her the left side of her body became paralysed, he said.
Dr Badrul Alam, Joint Director of the institute said, the operation was successful but the patient is still not out of danger.
She has been kept at the ICU and her condition will be known after 24 to 48 hours observation, the physician said adding that Afsana was a diabetic patient and suffered the stroke because of stress, he said.
Abid Sultan, who sustained injuries in the plane crash, died at Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu a day after the incident.
US-Bangla Airlines flight BS211, which flew from Dhaka to Kathmandu carrying 67 passengers and four crewmembers, crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital of Himalayan country of Nepal on Monday, leaving 49 people, including 26 Bangladeshis, dead.
