Bus Owners stopped operating long route buses in Rajshahi, Bogura, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Sunamganj and Joypurhat districts protesting vandalism during the ongoing demonstrations of students demanding justice for their two fellows who were killed in a road crash in the capital.

In Rajshahi, district Road Transport Owners Group halted bus service on all routes demanding safety during movement of buses, causing immense sufferings to the commuters.

Manjur Rahman, general secretary of Rajshahi Road Transport Owners Group, claimed that some unruly people vandalised buses during the students' demonstrations. That's why the bus owners decided to refrain from operating buses, he said.

In Sylhet, bus service on different routes remained suspended since Thursday for the same reason.

Sylhet Transport Workers Union decided to suspend bus service, said Selim Ahmed Falik, president of the union.

In Bogura, long distance bus services remained suspended since Thursday afternoon following the demonstrations of students in Dhaka, reports UNB.

Mahbubur Rahman Manik, a leader of Bogura District Motor Owners' Union, said the bus services to Dhaka and Chattogram were suspended at 4 pm on Thursday and no bus drivers agreed to drive buses putting their life in danger.

Bus services from Joypurhat and Mymensingh were also suspended on Friday.
