Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Thursday said only ‘balanced politics’ can build an autocracy-free Bangladesh, reports UNB.
BDB president came up with the remarks while exchanging Eid greetings with party leaders and activists at its central office in the city’s Kuril Bishwaroad area.
“The history teaches us that if any political party attains an absolute majority in the election, a despotic government is established in the country,” said the former president.
B Chowdhury, also incumbent chairman of Jukto Front, said one-party influence augments aggressiveness among the party insiders and fuel up corruptions of its leaders, lawmakers and ministers, forcing the government to give priority on coterie interest rather than the greater interest of the countrymen.
“It is possible to turn our country a democratic and welfare state in the future only if balanced politics is ensured,” he further said.
People usually put blame on the law enforcing agencies including Rapid Action Battalion and police for their unlawful activities, said B Chowdhury adding, “But, those who order and mastermind undemocratic deeds are responsible for it.”
Secretary General of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Major Rtd Abdul Mannan and other central leaders of the party were present.
