Civil aviation and tourism ministry said on Wednesday no person or organisation can register or fly drone until gazette notification and preparation of the relevant ministry, department or agency.

The cabinet has approved 'The Drone Registration and Flying Guideline-2020', but no gazette notification has been issued yet to this effect, according to a statement of the ministry.

The guideline was approved on September 14, but there is confusion among the public centring some media reports that circulated some misleading information.

Some media reports said drone under 'Ka' category can fly 500 feet which is wrong. In reality, this type of drone is for entertainment, the ministry clarified.

This type of drones cannot fly around the three-kilometre radius of an airport or any other key-point installation (KPI).

But any drone under this category can fly three to five kilometres at 50-feet height and with less than five-kilogram weight.

No drone having five-kilogram weight can fly around the airport or KPI and above 100-feet height within five kilometre.

Any drone having over five-kilogram weight and a capacity to fly 50 to 100 feet needs registration and permission from the civil aviation authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), excepting 'Gha'-category drones.
