Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have said they will not allow any public gatherings near roads, flyovers, open spaces or rooftops in efforts to tighten security centring on the New Year's Eve celebrations.
The DMP made it clear in a list of instructions and traffic diversions published on Monday, just a day before the New Year's Eve, according to local media reports.
Briefing the media about the security measures taken up ahead of the New Year's Eve celebrations, DMP commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam said they would not allow any fireworks or parties either.
Meanwhile, considering the security aspect, the DMP will also make Dhaka University campus off-limits to visitors from 6:00 in the evening tomorrow (Tuesday).
