No musical events under open sky on 31st night: Home minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has sounded a note of warning that no musical events will be allowed under the open sky on the occasion of the 31st night celebration.

“All bars will remain closed at night from December 30 to January 1 till 6 pm. Besides, carrying all kinds of arms will also be prohibited during the time, he said.

Kamal said the government has banned musical activities including fireworks under the open sky after 6:00pm from December 31 to January 1 next.

“Stern action will be taken if anyone tries to create anarchy centring the December 31 night. The government will ensure tight security across the country,” he said.

Additional member of law enforcement agencies including intelligence agency and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members will be deployed on the occasion of December 31st night.

The minister said the movement of all vehicles (except vehicles carrying sticker) has been restricted on the Dhaka University premises on December 31. The RAB members will also patrol in the city’s important areas.

Besides, security measures will be intensified in the diplomatic areas in the city including Baridhara and Gulshan on the occasion of 31st December.

Following the ‘zero tolerance policy’ against militancy and terrorism, the law enforcing agencies are on high alert and vigilant to deal with the extremists and militants with an iron hand.

“The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly with a firm resolve to establish a crime and militancy-free society,” the home minister said.
