The Election Commission (EC) has asked field-level officials to restrict the number of voters to 450 in a single booth of the polling stations in the six constituencies where electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used in the forthcoming national election.
The EC has issued a directive to increase the number of booths in such polling stations of the six parliamentary seats --Dhaka-6 and 13, Chattogram-9, Rangpur-3, Khulna-2 and Satkhira-2 for smoothly holding the voting.
According to a UNB report, the Commission on Thursday sent a letter to the officials concerned in this regard.
Some 600 male voters are usually allowed in a polling booth while the number is 500 in case of female voters, said EC officials.
There are 2,124,411 voters under 845 polling stations in the six parliamentary seats. An EVM will be used in every polling booth.
