Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said her announcement of scrapping the quota system in public service was not made out of anger.
The Prime Minister said she accepted the demand for quota reform as the students demanded it.
"There was nothing to be angry... the boys and girls placed the demand and I accepted it. Now what's there to raise question about it?" she said.
The Prime Minister came up with the remarks while addressing a press conference at her official residence Ganabhaban on Wednesday.
The press conference was arranged over the Prime Minister's recent visits to Saudi Arab, the UK and Australia.
Sheikh Hasina also dedicated her Global Women’s Leadership Award to the women in Bangladesh and across the world.
The Prime Minister received the prestigious Global Women's Leadership Award at a ceremony in Sydney of Australia on Friday.
She visited Saudi Arabia and the UK from April 15 to 23 while Australia from April 26 to 29.
