Nine Bangladeshi survivors of US-Bangla plane crash in Nepal named

The foreign ministry says nine Bangladeshis were rescued alive and hospitalised followed the US-Bangla aircraft crash in Kathmandu on Monday.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam posted on Facebook a list of the passengers and crew members on board the plane, marking the Bangladeshi survivors.   

The foreign ministry said in a statement out of the 71 people on board, 67 were passengers - 32 Bangladeshis, 33 Nepalese, 1 Chinese and 1 Maldivian - and four were Bangladeshi crew members.

Twenty-two people, including nine Bangladeshis, have been taken to hospital for treatment, bdnews24 reports citing the statement.

"Some of them are critically injured," the ministry said. 

According to the list provided by State Minister Shahriar, the Bangladeshi passengers who survived the crash are:

Emrana Kabir Hashi, Mehedi Hasan, Sayiada Kamrunnahar Shwarna, Shahreen Ahmed, Md Shahin Bepari, Md Rezwanul Haque, Almun Nahar Annie, Md Kabir Hossain, and Sheikh Rashed Rubayet. 

Mehedi and Shwarna are spouses. Businessman Mehedi hails from Gazipur.

The couple were travelling to Nepal as tourists with another couple. The four are relatives.

The other couple are Mehedi’s cousin FH Priok and his wife 'Annie".

Priok, a photographer, died in the accident along with his 3-year old daughter Priyonmoyeee Tamarra.

Among the other Bangladeshi survivors, Emrana is a lecturer at computer science and engineering department of the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET).

Her husband Rokibul Hasan, a software engineer, died in the accident.

Pilot Abid Sultan survived the accident, according to the US-Bangla.

Shahriar said a crew member, KHM Shafey, was believed to be alive, but Bangladeshi officials in Nepal could not find him at any hospital.

Earlier, US-Bangla released a list of 19 survivors. The others on the list than the Bangladeshis are:

Rizana Abdulla, Princy Dhami, Samira Byanjankar, Kishore Tripathi, Hari Prasad Subedi, Dayaram Tamrakar, Keshav Pandey, Ashish Ranjit, Binod Raj Paudyal, Sanam Shakya, Dinesh Humagain, and Basanta Bohara.
