Law Minister of Nepal, Sher Bahadur Tamang, who came under criticism from several quarters for his controversial remarks, resigned on Tuesday.
Minister Tamang announced his resignation at a press conference in Kathmandu on the day. He came under fire after he made a controversial remark during a programme organised at Praxis International Academy on July 20, reports the Kathmandu Post Online. Tamang had said that Nepali girls who were studying or studied MBBS in Bangladesh were bound to compromise their honour to claim their certificates.
He issued apology but was under pressure from within his party to step down from his post including from leaders including KP Sharma Oli and Madhav Kumar Nepal.
