The train communication between Mymensingh and Jamalpur has been restored on Monday afternoon after 17 hours of disruption following derailment of a local train at Mintu College Road intersection in the city on Sunday night.

Railway station superintendent Jahirul Islam said ‘Dewanganj local train’ veered off the track around 8:30pm as it collided with a motorcycle on a level crossing in the area.

After the incident, a relief train came to spot at night and salvaged the train around 1pm on Monday, says a UNB report.

Meanwhile, a four-member probe committee, led by railway traffic inspector Nurul Islam, has been formed.
