Bangladesh and Myanmar have discussed various issues, including Rohingya crisis, in Dhaka city.
The discussion took place as newly appointed Myanmar Ambassador in Dhaka Lwin Oo met Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at the latter’s office on Sunday.
Approached by newsmen, he refused to talk about Rohingya issue, reports UNB. He just said, “I will try my best to improve and strengthen bilateral and economic relations.”
Bangladesh is now hosting over a million Rohingya refugees, with around 0.7 million fleeing here amid ‘ethnic cleansing’ in Myanmar.
Both countries have agreed a repatriation deal and in the first phase, Bangladesh has handed over the neighbouring country a list of 8032 Rohingya refugees.
According to recent Myanmar media reports, the repatriation may begin in the first week of February, with the list also verified by then.
