An easy-bike driver was strangulated to death by muggers at Karbala in Boraigram upazila of Natore on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Ramu Chandra Das, 37, son of Babulal Das of Mallikhati municipal area.
Mozammel Haque, in-charge of Jhalmalia highway police outpost, said Oshim Kumar, staff of a private business firm, was returning to the district town from Bonpara with some cash after selling products.
When the easy-bike reached Karbala area, a gang of muggers obstructed the vehicle and tried to snatch the money from Oshim, UNB reported citing the OC.
Being obstructed by Ramu Chandra, they strangulated him to death, Mozammel said.
He said the muggers also tied up Oshim and threw him into a banana orchard nearby the road and ran away with the cash.
On information, police recovered the body.
