More than 2,000 Supreme Court lawyers have applied for loans from the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) through emails as the association decided to provide interest free loans to its members in need to tackle the financial pressure during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

SCBA President Advocate AM Amin Uddin said, “We are still receiving applications from the members seeking loans. We will scrutinise the applications next week.”

He also said the association’s executive committee will hold a meeting next week to decide the amount of money to be given to each lawyer.

On April 10, the executive committee at a meeting decided to provide interest-free loans to its troubled members during the pandemic situation.
