Mild to severe heat wave sweeping over country

People in most parts of the country including Dhaka are witnessing the scorching temperature as a mild to severe heat wave is sweeping over most parts of the country including Dhaka and it may continue in the next 24-hour period starting from 9am on Monday, according to a met office bulletin.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in the bulletin said severe heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Jashore & Chuadanga.

Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka division & remaining part of Rajshahi & Khulna divisions and the regions of Barishal, Patuakhali, Dinajpur, Nilphamari & Rangamati and it may continue, it said.

However, it said rain/thunder showers with lightning flashes accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions.

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, as per the bulletin.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.

In its outlook for the next 72 hour, it said little change.

The country’s highest-ever temperature of 45.1 degree Celsius was recorded in Rajshahi on May 18, 1972.
