A mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over eight districts and four divisions which may continue until Sunday, according to a met official.
A 24-hour bulletin, valid for 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today (Saturday), said a mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over eight districts -- Gopalgonj, Tangail, Kishoregonj, Feni, Jashore, Kushtia, Chuadanga and Barishal, and four divisions Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet. It may continue until the next 24-hour.
Afroza Sultana, assistant meteorologist, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), told The Financial Express (FE) that the intensity of the cold wave may continue to decrease from Sunday.
However, she said it may not spread further.
Seasons’ lowest temperature of 6.1 degree Celsius was reported at Rajarhat in Kurigram on Friday, she added.
Both Tetulia and Rajarhat recorded temperature of 7.0 degree Celsius on Saturday, the bulletin said.
Terming that weather might remain dry over the country, the forecast also said moderate to thick fog may occur over the north-western part and light to moderate fog may occur at places elsewhere over the country during midnight to morning.
Ridge of sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and the adjoining western parts of Bangladesh, it said, adding that seasonal low lies over the South Bay.
Night and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, as per the bulletin.
It said that the temperature may rise for next 72 hours.
