Two youths died and ten other people sustained injuries in a lightning strike while riding a boat at Katlapur Ghat area in Savar early Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Sohag (25) and Abul Hossain (27), the residents of the area.
According to sources, the boat, packed with passengers including some garment workers, was crossing a local river early in the morning. When a lightning struck the boat, some of them fell into the river.
Acting on a tip off, Savar Fire Service unit rushed to the spot and recovered two dead bodies from the river.
Ten other injured passengers were admitted to Upazila health complex later.
