KCC launches fortnight tax collection drive

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque urged citizens as well as both public and private organisations to pay taxes regularly to help the government carry out development activities.

“We will have no way other than cut-off KCC’s utility services in future if tax defaulters do not pay dues in time,” he said while speaking at a fortnight Tax Collection Fair in Khulna on Tuesday.

“I am committed to building the green and clean city which would be eco-friendly and free from water-logging. KCC has taken many projects to materialise its commitment in shortest possible time,” he said.

Chaired by chief revenue officer of KCC Md Abdur Rahman the occasion was addressed, among others, by chief executive officer Palash Kanti Bala and secretary Md Azmul Haque. Panel Mayors, Councillors, officers and employees attended the function. Later, KCC mayor inaugurated ”Fortnight Tax Collection Fair of KCC-2019′ by releasing baloons.

A total of four booths were set up to collect KCC tax at its premises from April 16 to 30.

The tax payers who will pay taxes during the fair will get exemption of 15 percent surcharges and five per cent rebate on tax in the current fiscal year, reports UNB.
