The third death anniversary of Kazi Zafar Ahmed, a former prime minister and chairman of a faction of Jatiya Party, was observed on Monday.
Leaders of Jatiya Party (Zafar) and other political parties and followers and well-wishers of Kazi Zafar placed wreaths at his grave in Cumilla's Chouddagram upazila paying homage to him, reports UNB.
A milad mahfil and Qurankhawani was held at Kazi House at Chouddagram's Cheora, seeking salvation of the departed soul of Kazi Zafar.
Meanwhile, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir issued a message on the occasion.
Fakhrul recalled Kazi Zafar's role in the country's Liberation War and different democratic movements.
He prayed for eternal peace of Kazi Zafar's departed soul.
On August 27, 2015, Kazi Zafar died at a hospital here at the age of 76. He was prime minister during HM Ershad's regime.
