Anis Ahmed, executive editor of The Daily Observer, passed away at his Mohammadpur residence in Dhaka on Monday morning. He was 64.
Anis Ahmed, who also worked with BSS and Reuters, was suffering from various diseases and breathed his last at about 8:30 am, said family sources.
Ahmed, a permanent member of the Jatiya Press Club, left behind wife, a daughter, a son, a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death, reports UNB.
His first namaz-e-janaza was scheduled to be held at the Jatiya Press Club after Zohr prayers.
Anis Ahmed will be buried in his family graveyard at Shahbajpur village in Brahmanbaria district after Magrib prayers.
Press Club president Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and general secretary Farida Yasmin expressed deep shock at the death of the senior journalist.
