Jatiya Party (JP) Secretary-General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu died at a city hospital on Saturday. He was 66.
The JP leader was undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Dhaka, where he breathed his last around 9:12am, the party chairman's deputy press secretary Khandaker Deloar Jalali said.
Bablu is survived by his son and second wife.
On September 7, Bablu was admitted to Labaid Specialised Hospital in the capital’s Dhanmondi area with Covid-19 symptoms.
He underwent a Covid test the same day and tested positive, said Jalali. And after a week, Bablu was shifted to Bangladesh Specialized Hospital.
Party sources said that Bablu fell ill after returning to Dhaka from Sylhet earlier last month. He went to Sylhet to campaign for the party candidate in Sylhet-3 by-poll held on September 4, reports UNB.
