Nakano Erico (46), a Japanese doctor on Thursday filed a writ petition with the High Court (HC) seeking its directives to produce her two daughters before the court.

In the writ petition, she sought directives from the court to take custody of her two daughters.

Advocate Shishir Monir filed the writ on behalf of the Japanese doctor to the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman.

Talking to The Financial Express, Shishir said Nakano and Sharif Imran, a 58-year-old Bangladeshi-US citizen, got married on July 11, 2008 in Japan under Japanese law.

After they got married, they started living in Tokyo. In their 12-year marital life, three daughters were born, he said.

They are Jasmine Malika (11), Laila Lina (10) and Sania Hena (7). All three were students at a school in Tokyo.

He said that they were divorced on January 18, 2021. On January 21, Imran appealed to the school authorities in Japan to take his daughter Jasmine Malika away.

But the school authorities rejected Imran's offer as Erico did not agree in this regard. Then one day, Imran picked up Jasmine Malika and Laila Lina while they were on their way home.

Shishir Monir said that on January 25, Sharif Imran, through his lawyer, applied for the transfer of the girls' passports from Erico.

But Erico rejected the request and filed a lawsuit in Tokyo's Family Court on January 28 seeking an order to take her children into her custody.

The court ordered Erico to meet the girls on February 7, 11 and 14.

However, Imran violated the court order and gave her a chance to meet her two daughters only once, according to Shishir Monir.

Then on February 9, Imran received a new passport for his daughters by providing 'false and fake information'. He later came to Bangladesh with Jasmine Malika and Laila Lina on February 21.
