Japan on Wednesday assured Bangladesh of its support to address the Rohingya issue.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam said this in a Tweet message after a breakfast meeting with the visiting Japanese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao Horii.
Horii also praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government, added the junior minister.
“Vice Minister of @MofaJapan_jp assures support on #Rohynga issue n praised #SheikhHasina govt. @albd1971,” reads the Tweet, reports UNB.
The breakfast meeting was held at a state guest house in Dhaka city this morning.
Earlier in the day, Iwao Horii, who visited Myanmar on September 21-23, arrived in Dhaka to discuss Rohingya issue with his Bangladesh counterpart.
The visit is a follow-up to the bilateral meeting of Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono on the sidelines of the UNGA on September 18.
