Noted cultural figure Syed Hasan Imam has said Awami League needs to resolve the dispute that exists within the party to build unity and attain victory in the forthcoming national election.
Hasan Imam, an actor, film director, television director and cultural personality in Bangladesh, came up with remark at a discussion at the National Press Club organised by Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad on Friday.
Hasan Imam, the keynote speaker, in the discussion titled 'Present Situation of Bangladesh' also said that Bangladesh needs AL-led government again to keep harmony and stability in the country. Moreover, the party practises the spirit of Liberation War.
To ensure the state power once more, AL has to find out the problems of the party at district-level too, he suggested, reports UNB.
Addressing the programme, Dr Hasan Mahmud, Publicity and Publications Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, said AL-led coalition is running the government for nine years and by this time Bangladesh achieved economic and social progress.
Brushing aside the demand of Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir, the Secretary General of BNP, that the party will get 80 percent vote in the next election, Hasan Mahmud said the international surveys are saying that the party will not get more than eight percent public mandate.
Additional Secretary of Finance Ministry Pirjada Sahidul Harun, President of Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad Lion Chittaranjan Das and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarkar Rana, among others, addressed the discussion.
