The government has sent Information and Broadcasting Secretary Md Mokbul Hossain on retirement before the completion of his normal service tenure.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Sunday stating that he was sent on retirement 'in the public interest’ as per section 45 of the Public Servants Act, 2018.
Mokbul was appointed as secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry on May 31, 2021, and he took over the charges on June 3 of the same year.
According to media reports, Mokbul joined the civil service in 1991 as a member of the 10th BCS Administration Cadre. He was supposed to retire on October 31, 2023.
