India willing to work in BD’s solid waste management

Indian has expressed its interest to work for the solid waste management in Bangladesh's city corporations and supply machinery to the corporations.

Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla showed the interest while he called on LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain at his office in the city on Thursday, according to an official release.

Shringla hoped that the project of installing LED lights in the areas of Dhaka North and South, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Chattogram city corporations will soon be completed.

During the meeting, Mosharraf said Bangladesh and India have been maintaining friendly relations since long as Bangladesh always gets India beside her.

On the issues of pure drinking water supply and sanitation, the minister noted Bangladesh has been brought under around 99 per cent healthy sanitation network. The government is also working to ensure a source of pure drinking water for every 50 people, he added.

Senior Secretary of Local Government Division Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan, Second Secretary of Indian High Commission Shishir Kothari and high officials of the ministry were present, reports BSS.
