Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim directed the stakeholders to implement development projects of his ministry, ensuring the works do not have any negative impacts on the environment.
He also said various concerned ministries are making concerted efforts to mitigate the country's climate change impacts.
The minister came up with the remarks and instruction after laying the foundation stone of the Institute of Livestock Science and Technology (ILST), Sylhet, which is being implemented by the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) under the ministry.
Karim told reporters that the government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, had taken groundbreaking steps for the development of the fisheries and livestock sector in Bangladesh.
Terming huge production of fish, meat, milk and eggs have increased across the country, he said the government in consultation with local MPs and the administration, is taking well-timed plans in the areas of the country, including the haor areas, which have the opportunity to produce national products.
The government is seriously considering taking various steps for the development of Haor regions, he stated.
