The High Court (HC) has summarily rejected the anticipatory bail of an alleged fake doctor and sent him to jail.

The High Court division bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq passed the order, handing over accused Md Mahmudul Hasan to Shahbagh Police Station on Monday.

The court also ordered to arrest the rest of the accused in the case soon, reports BSS.

"My client Md Mahmudul Hasan is the fourth accused in the case. We had pleaded for anticipatory bail, but the court today scrapped our plea and sent him to jail through Shahbagh Police Station," defence counsel Advocate Shahinur Alam told newsmen.

Advocate ABM Bayejid argued for Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik stood for the state during the hearing.

ACC filed case against 14 including the registrar of Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council for registering 12 people as MBBS doctors based on fake certificates. ACC deputy director Selina Akter Moni filed the case on December 2, 2020.

The 14 accused in the case are: Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BMDC) registrar Md Jahidul Haque Bosunia, administrative officer Mohammad Borhan Uddin, fake doctors Md Iman Ali, Mohammad Masud Pervej, Sudeb Sen, Tanmay Ahmed, Md Mahmudul Hasan, Md Mokter Hossain, Md Asad Ullah, Md Kauser, Rahmat Ali, Sheikh Atiyar Rahman, Md Saiful Islam and Md Aslam Hossain.

According to the case documents, the 12 fraud applied for BMDC registration by submitting forged documents. In their application, the 12 accused claimed they passed MBBS exams from Taishan Medical University (TSMC) China. The two BMDC officials gave them the registration based on those forged documents.
