Heavy rainfall likely on Friday

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions in 24 hours until 3:00pm on Friday (tomorrow).

“Due to severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ over coastal Odisha, India, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions during the next 24 hours commencing from 3:00pm today,” said a met office bulletin on Thursday.

According to latest weather bulletin issued by the met office this evening, the severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ moved slightly northwestwards over coastal Odisha and adjoining area of India. It is likely to move north northwestwards further inland and weaken gradually.

Under the influence of the severe cyclonic storm, steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay, a deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number three.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice, reports BSS.
