A mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Rangamati, Cumilla, Chandpur, Feni and Chuadanga which may continue, according to a Met office bulletin.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), however, says a light to moderate rain/thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty wind, is likely to occur at many places over Chattogram division.
Besides, rainfall may occur at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over the country.
The low pressure area over North Odisha and adjoining area persists, the bulletin said, adding that one of its associated troughs extends to Northeast Bay.
Monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, the centre of the low, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh, it stated.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay, it also said.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, as per the bulletin.
In its outlook for the next 72 hours, it says rainfall activity may increase at the end period.
