The ongoing heat wave, which has now been sweeping over three divisions and four districts across the country, may persist for two to three days, according to a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
However, rain/thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Sylhet divisions as well as the regions of Kushtia and Cumilla on Thursday and Friday, said Shanaz Sultana, a meteorologist at the BMD.
Talking to The Financial Express, she said mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions as well as Madaripur, Gopalgonj, Chandpur, Noakhali, and Feni districts and it may continue.
Meanwhile, the BMD in a forecast said weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
In its 72-hour outlook, it said a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal at the end of this period.
A trough of low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area, the bulletin said it extends up to North Bay.
The sun set at 6:36 pm on Thursday and will rise at 5: 13 am on Friday in Dhaka, according to the forecast.
