The High Court has sought an explanation from Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) about the incident of around 30,000 clients’ documents -- related to seeking permission for construction of buildings – reportedly going missing from its server.
In a suomuto (voluntary) move on Monday, the bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat Lizu asked the RAJUK chairman to submit a report within 30 days about whether the incident of the documents going missing is true or not and, if true, what action has been taken in this regard.
The HC move follows a news report published by the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
Lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan, a counsel for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), confirmed the matter to The Financial Express.
He had submitted the news report before the HC bench, seeking a directive in this regard.
Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state in court.
