The High Court on Tuesday has asked the authorities concerned to submit the list of risky buildings in the city within three months.
An HC bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal passed the order following a writ petition and asked the authorities concerned of Fire Service, Rajuk and Public Works Ministry to implement the order.
The HC also issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the directives should not be given to demolish the six-story building of Gulshan Shopping Centre after snapping its gas and electricity connection.
Besides, the HC issued another rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why directives should not be given to Rajuk, Public Works Ministry and Fire Service to take effective measures after identifying risky buildings in Dhaka.
Barrister Rashna Imam and Advocate Zubaida Gulshan Ara stood for the petitioner while deputy attorney general Ekramul Haq Tutul represented the state, reports UNB.
Mohammad Hanif, a chief executive officer of 'Swadesh' an NGO filed the writ petition seeking an order to demolish the building following its vulnerable condition as the Gulshan Shopping Centre has been announced a risky building.
