Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has congratulated Australia's newly elected Prime Minister Scott Morrison on his assumption of office.
"On behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I've the great pleasure in extending our warmest felicitations to you on your assumption of office as Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia," she said in a message on Sunday, reports UNB.
"Your election as the leader of the Liberal Party and consequent appointment to the high office of Prime Minister reflect the trust and confidence that the Liberal Party and the people of Australia have reposed in your leadership and wisdom to lead the country," Sheikh Hasina said.
The PM said Bangladesh deeply values her relations with Australia. "It's my firm conviction that the close bond of friendship that has evolved over the years between our two peoples and countries will further be strengthened during your term in office. I look forward to working closely with you," she added.
Hasina also wished Scott Morrison a successful tenure as the Prime Minister of Australia.
On August 24 last, Scott Morrison sworn in as the 30th Prime Minister of Australia.
