A mobile court has shut down a restaurant in Gulshan called ‘Khushbu Biriyani and Restaurant’ and slapped a fine of Tk 400,000 after it found proof that the biriyani was coloured using textile dyes.
A RAB mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Sarwoer Alam conducted inspections at various restaurants in Dhaka’s Gulshan on Monday afternoon.
“An operation at a Gulshan-2 restaurant found that the colouring they were using in their biriyani and mixing into other food was from textile dye,” said bdnews24.com agency quoting Alam.
“This is harmful to people’s health.”
For this reason the restaurant was fined Tk 400,000 and shut down, he said.
The court also ordered a jail sentence of one year for one of the operators of the store and six months for another.
