The government will consider waiving small businesspersons’ bank loan interest as they are incurring losses due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on Monday morning.

The issue will be discussed with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal during a meeting this day, she said during a video conference over the coronavirus on Monday morning.

She added that the meeting will be held just after the video conference that she started with public representatives and officials of all eight districts of Rajshahi division at 10am.

The government was planning to resume regular activities in areas that have less coronavirus outbreak in the country, Sheikh Hasina said.

The Prime Minister called on small business people hard hit by the virus outbreak to take advantage of loans at 2.0 per cent interest to tide over the crisis.
