Road digging works across the country will remain suspended for 15 days from June 8 to ensure smooth journeys for Eid holidaymakers.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader minister came up with the information while speaking at a views-exchange meeting held at BRTC office in Motijheel area of Dhaka on Monday, reports UNB.
People have been suffering a lot due to the ongoing project taken by the City Corporations and WASA in the capital and the authorities concerned have been asked to suspend all kinds of digging work on roads till June 21, he said.
Besides, the road renovation works in Gazipur and other parts of the country will remain suspended till June 21 to ease the Eid journeys, he added.
Besides, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authorities (BRTA) has directed to take effective measures to stop plying of unfit vehicles and running vehicles on wrong sides, said Obaidul.
