The government has reappointed Shafiul Alam as cabinet secretary for another year.
State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique confirmed the media about the matter, reports bdnews24.com on Sunday.
“I have approved the file and it has been sent to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We will publish a notice on his reappointment as cabinet secretary after receiving the approval of the Prime Minister,” she said.
Shafiul Alam was scheduled to go on post-retirement leave on December 13, according to an official of the Ministry of Public Administration.
Alam was appointed as the cabinet secretary on October 25, 2015.
Before joining the Cabinet Division, he served as the secretaries of land and president’s office.
He was the chairman of the National Housing Authority and Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation and served in many important positions over the last 30 years.
He also served as the Rajshahi divisional commissioner, the chairman of Land Appeal Board, additional secretary to the former communications ministry and the chairman of Land Appeal Board.
The member of the 1982 Bangladesh Civil Service cadre has also served as the additional secretary to the former communications ministry, Rajshahi divisional commissioner, and deputy commissioner of both Magura and Mymensingh districts.
Alam completed his MA in English in 1981 from the Chittagong University and undertook a higher degree in development administration from a university in the UK.
