Govt announces dates for retaking PEC exams

The government has set Dec 24, 26 and 28 for about 200 expelled students to retake the Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee exams in line with a High Court order over the matter.

The Directorate of Primary Education announced the new schedule on Sunday and forwarded it to all deputy commissioners and district education officers, reports bdnews24.com.

Fifth graders will undertake the English exam on Dec 24 followed by the science test later in the evening. The Bangla exam will be held on the morning of Dec 26 before the Bangladesh Affairs and Introduction of World Affairs exam in the evening.

The mathematics exam has been set for the morning of Dec 28 with the religion and moral education test rounding of the schedule later in the evening.

For Ebtedayee exam candidates, the English test will be held on the morning of Dec 24 followed by the Arabic exam in the same evening.

Students will sit for the Bangla test on the morning of Dec 26 before taking the Bangladesh and global affairs exam in the evening.

The mathematics test is scheduled for the morning of Dec 28 followed by the Quran studies test in the evening.

The morning exams will be held between 10am and 12:30 pm while the evening slot is from 2pm to 4:30 pm. The results will be published on Dec 31.

On Dec 18, the High Court ordered the authorities to arrange retakes for the expelled students by Dec 28 and publish the results by Dec 31.
