A court has handed down the death penalty to four people and sentenced two others to life imprisonment for the murder of a child in Narayanganj's Fatullah in 2013.
Judge Sabina Yasmin of Narayanganj's 2nd Additional District and Sessions Court delivered the verdict on Sunday. Four other suspects in the case were acquitted, according to Additional Public Prosecutor Jasmin Ahmed, reports bdnews24.com.
The victim, Md Imon, was killed in connection with a land dispute nine years ago, she said.
Jasmin had earlier told reporters that the court had sentenced seven people to death and acquitted three others. "My information was not correct. The death penalty has been given to four people and life imprisonment to two in the verdict signed by the judge," she later explained.
