Food Minister Quamrul Islam has said food stock capacity of the country has now stood at 21,18822 metric tonnes (MT).
“The country’s total food storage capacity now stands at 21,18,822 metric tons with 2,722 food godowns and seven silos,” he said.
The minister came up with the statement while replying to a written query from treasury bench member Sukumar Ranjan Gosh of Munshiganj-1 at the Jatiya Sangsad in Dhaka on Tuesday, reports BSS.
In addition to this, he said, a new food godown with a capacity of 1000 MT will be constructed Louhajang Sadar LSD in Munshiganj district under the “New Food Godowns Construction Project with a capacity of 105,000 metric tonnes,” he added.
Quamrul further informed that country’s total food stockpile is now 12,18 645 MT. Of them, he said, 124 MT paddy, 9,52,482 MT rice and 2,66,039 MT wheat.
