Flood situation still worsening

Flood situation in some parts of the country is still worsening as the water level in some rivers of different parts of Bangladesh may rise in the next 24 hours, according to a bulletin of the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).

However, the 24-hour bulletin, issued on Monday, also said the Brahmaputra-Jamuna river is in rising trend which may remain steady for the next 24 hours, while the Ganges-Padma river is in rising trend which may continue for the next 24 hours.

However, the major rivers of the north-eastern region of the country in the Upper Meghna basin are in a falling trend which may continue in the next 48 hours.

The flood situation at some places of Sylhet, Sunamganj and Netrokona districts may improve in the next 24 hours, as per the bulletin.

Currently, four rivers in Bangladesh crossed danger marks at five points, it said.

Five points are Kanaighat (Sylhet), Amalshid (Sylhet), Sheola (Sylyet), Derai (Sunamganj) and Kalmakanda (Netrokona).
