Four judgments of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) and one judgment of the High Court (HC) Division have been translated into Bangla from English using the newly-launched translation software called 'Amar Vasha'.
Confirming the matter, Md Saifur Rahman, special officer at the High Court Division, told The Financial Express that five English judgments of the apex court have been translated into Bangla using the software for the convenience of both the parties and the masses.
The verdicts translated into Bangla could not be used for any other purpose. In practical and official matters, only the English judgment issued by the court will be considered valid while the judgment given in English will have to be followed for the execution of the judgment, he added.
Five translated verdicts issued by the Appellate Division of the SC are civil review petition no. 315/2017 Bangladesh Rubber Industries & anr. Vs. Dine Ara Begum & others, civil petition for leave to appeal no. 1977 of 2017 Gas Transmission Company Ltd Vs. Mohammad Abdul Aziz (Compressor Operator) and others, civil petition for leave to appeal number 1187 of 2018 Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and others Vs. Shah Jamal Mollah and another petitioner, and civil appeal no. 23 of 2010 Government of Bangladesh Vs. Jannatul Ferdous and others.
Another verdict issued by the HC judgement is stated as criminal miscellaneous case no. 25615 of 2019 Md. Nazmul Huda Vs. The State and another.
Earlier on February 19, 2021, The Supreme Court (SC) of Bangladesh launched the translation software which will use artificial intelligence to translate orders and judgments of the Supreme Court into Bangla. The software was developed by EkStep Foundation of India.
