Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route has resumed after a 9-hour disruption caused by thick fog on Saturday.
The ferry services remained suspended on the route from 10pm on Friday to 7am on Saturday due to blurred visibility caused by thick fog, said Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha.
"The ferry services were disrupted from 10pm on Friday due to poor visibility caused by thick fog," said Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha.
One ferry remained stranded in the mid-river while 17 others at two ghats on both sides, causing immense sufferings to the passengers amid cold weather, according to UNB report.
Over thousands of vehicles, including buses and trucks, were waiting in queues on both sides of the river to cross it, Nasir added.
Later, the ferry services resumed around 7am as the fog disappeared.
