Tuhin Mia, the 5-year-old old boy whose mutilated body was found hanging from a tree near his home in Sunamganj’s Derai Upazila, was killed by his father, paternal uncle and cousin.
They brutally murdered the minor boy only to implicate their rivals in the case, report bdnews24.com and UNB.
Sunamganj Additional Superintendent of Police Md Mizanur Rahman gave the information at a media briefing on Tuesday evening, citing information given by the members of the family during preliminary interrogations.
The minor boy was taken out of the home at Kejaura village under Rajanagar union by his father Abdul Basir while he was asleep in the wee hours of Monday, Mizanur said.
Then, Basir, his brother Jamshed Ali, and nephew Shahriar Hossain killed the child by slitting his throat, the police officer said.
The “killers” later cut off his ears and genital, according to Mizanur.
Two knives were stuck to the child's stomach when police recovered the body, they had earlier said.
Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sunamganj Shyam Kanta Sinha recorded the confessional statements of victim’s uncle Nasir Mia and cousin Shahriar, said Mizanur Rahman.
Meanwhile, the same court placed three people, including Tuhin’s father Abdul Basir, on a three-day remand in connection with the murder when police produced them before it seeking a five-day remand, said KM Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Dirai Police Station.
The two others who were remanded are: uncle Abdur Musabir and neighbour Jamshed Ali.
The body of the minor boy was found hanged from a tree on Monday morning with his ears, genital parts and throat severed. Two knives used in the murder were also found stuck in his abdomen.
Monira Begum, mother of Tuhin, filed a case against 10 people on Tuesday in connection with the murder.
