Columnist Farhad Mazhar has claimed that he was abducted and he faced pressure to ‘conceal this truth’.
Denying the police claim that he was not abducted, Mr Mazhar said he was forced to admit that he left home ‘willingly’.
Although thanked the law enforcers for their efforts but added their try to hide the truth undermined their success.
Farhad Mazhar made the remarks at a press conference in Dhaka on Saturday.
Mazhar said the statement he gave to court under Section 164 of the CrPC was ‘actually written by the police’
"The government must take responsibility for forcing him to give the statement to court," he added.
According to bdnews24, the columnist urged all to must continue efforts so that the victims of enforced disappearance can return to their families.
Asked why he did not speak out until now after the incident of his alleged abduction on July 3, he said, “No one has spoken out after returning. I have put myself in more danger by speaking out. But I will continue this fight no matter how much harassment I face.”
