ATM Hafizur Rahman, a retired official of Jahangirnagar University and son of late AKM Abu Al Habib Tarun Biswas, has passed away. He was 77.
He breathed his last at 11:45pm on Monday. He had been bedridden from a stroke for eight years, according to a press release.
Born to a respectably family in Kashimpur village in Jhenidah’s Shailkupa upazila in 1945, he was well-known for various social activities including promoting education and standing by the poor.
He founded a secondary school, a mosque and a graveyard in the native place, and was on course to founding a public library too.
Mr Rahman is also a brother of ATM Emdadul Alam, a deputy registrar of the Islamic University, Kushtia, and the current president of the Islamic University Officers’ Association.
He left behind his wife, two children – one son and one daughter – and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His family has asked the relatives, friends and well-wishers to pray for the salvation of the departed soul.
