Dr Ashraf Siddiqui, a noted poet, folklorist and former director general of Bangla Academy, is undergoing treatment at a city hospital with respiratory problems.
Farhad, an official of customer care department of Apollo Hospital, said Dr Ashraf was admitted to the hospital on February 20, UNB reported.
Dr Tasneem Siddiqui, daughter of the poet, said her father is 95 and now he is in critical condition.
She requested his students, colleagues and well-wishers to pray for him.
