The government will build a modern eco-park and botanical garden in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram district at a cost of Tk 1.50 billion.
Bangladesh Climate Change Trust Fund (BCCTF), in operation since 2010, allocated Tk 100 million for the project on Thursday.
The BCCTF, which funds programmes and projects from the national budget to help communities recover and become resilient to climate change impacts, will implement the project.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud said it will be built as a full-fledged modern eco-park and botanical garden at a cost of Tk 1.50 billion. "Work on project design is going on."
The eco-park and botanical garden will be built in Mondakini Forest Beat area of Hathazari range, the ministry said.
Initially, infrastructure and offices will be set up while other facilities will be developed gradually, reports UNB.
