EC sounds tough against duty negligence in city polls

The election commission will take action against those involved in negligence of duty and violation of election code of conduct in the upcoming city corporation election in Khulna

Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury came up with the statement on Sunday, reports UNB.

The election commissioner was speaking at the co-ordination committee meeting as chief guest at Khulna Circuit House.

"The election commission is trying to hold the election as fair and neutral as the whole world is keeping its eye on the election," he said.

He also urged all to come forward and provide their assistance in the mission of the EC.

There will be 289 polling centres, each of which will be provided with some 22 members of law enforcing agencies, in certain cases it may be 24 for important centres.

Besides, BGB, RAB and police will be patrolling during the election time.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia presided over the meeting.

DIG of Khulna range, Didar Ahmed, KMP Commissioner Humayun Kabir, Rab-6 Commanding Officer Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, deputy commisisoner Amin Ul Ahsan and superintendent of Knulna Police, Nizamul Haque Mollah were present, among others, at the meeting.
